Close-the-Circle is an upcoming matchmaking app pairing businesses that produce waste streams with the businesses who can use them — industrial symbiosis, made findable.
The idea, in plain terms.
A coffee roaster in Durham produces 4,000 lbs of spent grounds a month. A mushroom farm in Pittsboro spends $1,200/month sourcing those same grounds from out of state. They live 28 miles apart and don't know about each other.
That story repeats endlessly: brewery yeast, sawdust, fryer oil, scrap aluminum, outdated electronics, food-grade pallets, untreated water heat. Most of it gets landfilled or shipped. Most of it has someone within an hour's drive who'd happily pay for it.
Close-the-Circle is a directory + matching layer for those exchanges. Producers post what they have. Consumers post what they need. We surface the local, viable matches.
